Carlos Calderón, the renowned Univision presenter, has decided to break his silence and share his experiences following his unexpected departure from the ‘Despierta América’ program.

“It has been horrible. Those months were very hard,” highlighted Calderón to People en Español magazine, after his departure.

“It was very painful to be part of a program that we have always felt so proud of, supporting families, and then suddenly find myself with a baby and alone with my wife,” Calderón added.

The Mexican presenter, known for his charisma and professionalism in television, revealed that this period of transition in his life was quite challenging.

«It was very difficult to understand»

In the interview he gave to the magazine, Calderón explained that initially, it was difficult for him to comprehend the changes occurring in his life.

“It was very difficult to grasp the full extent of the situation,” Calderón explained to the media. As a result of these events, he also lost friends.

“It was a stark separation. I won’t name names, but very few people reached out to me after my departure,” he highlighted.

“There was only one person who approached me,» Calderón said with a laugh. «It wasn’t even a plural situation,» he added during the media interview.

“It’s sad. It’s like any job where you’re in an office environment with colleagues, and that’s just what they are – colleagues,” he added.

“Sometimes, especially for someone as emotional as me, because I invest a lot of my feelings into my work,” the presenter explained.

“And yes, when you part ways, I don’t know, maybe there are prejudices or fears about continuing a relationship with someone who is no longer part of that environment,” he admitted in an interview.

«It’s a learning experience»

Although Carlos Calderón’s departure from ‘Despierta América’ may have been an unexpected turn in his career, the experience has provided him with a new perspective.

“I don’t know how to fully describe it. It’s a learning experience, a way of acknowledging that it was just a phase of my life,” Calderón shared with People magazine.

“And if life brings us together again, I hope we can rekindle that sense of friendship and complicity that made the program so special,” he emphasized.
